Creating Change Successfully...and With More Ease

We all make resolutions and promises to ourselves at the beginning of each year with the best of intentions. Sometimes, though, we get tripped up fairly quickly. When that happens, it’s easy to just give up and let things slide back to the way they were, losing sight of the reasons why we wanted to do this thing, anyway.

There are ways that we can set ourselves up for success, which are not very difficult or time consuming.

So, if you're finding yourself on the losing end of your New Year's resolutions or the intentions that you've set, here are some things you can do to get back on course, any time of day, any time of the year:

1. Start your day over at any time. You can do this as many times as you want or need to each day! Starting your day over helps you to refocus and let go of all that came before. You have a clean slate and the opportunity to not let what came before drag down the rest of your day.

You’re never “just stuck” with a bad day, as you can begin again whenever you want. You can move forward by making a powerful choice to take the knowledge you gained and leave behind all the baggage.

2. Look at the evidence. You’ve already made so many choices that that are in line with the changes you want to make or the resolutions you’ve committed to. Reflect on these things, celebrate them, and journal them or write them down. Use this list as a reminder of what is possible, and how capable you are. Revisiting these successes helps to create undeniable, empirical evidence that shows you over and over again that you can do this!

Your energy will remain at the vibration where everything you want is possible, and that one thing you tripped on doesn't have the power or ability to take the reins and steer you off-course. You’ll see that there’s no need to throw all that you’ve already accomplished away by looking at all the amazing choices you’ve already made. This will help you to get back on track more easily!

3. Reevaluate your expectations. Realize that you're expecting more of yourself than you would of anyone else. If another were in your shoes, what would you tell them? You would probably be a lot more supportive, and remind them not to take on too much at one time.

When it comes to ourselves, all of that usually goes out the window! We take on ten changes at the same time, instead of one or two, fully expecting to be able to do it all. We have little to no compassion for ourselves in the process, as we expect perfection (or at least to get very close). The inevitable burnout and disappointment causes us to give up on ourselves.

Just because we are cultivating our spiritual energy regularly does not give us license to neglect our humanity in any way. Working within our humanity is a really powerful asset! For example, when making new year's resolutions about losing weight and exercising more in a place where this time of year is cold, we're working against biology to a degree. In the cold of winter, our bodies naturally want to hibernate and store energy instead of expend it. This is not an excuse to push anyone off course, but rather, to expand your view.

When we understand that what’s going on in the world around us is being echoed internally, we can be more realistic about our goals and more strategic in our approach. We’ll be able to understand and communicate more effectively with our bodies, striking up a compromise so that we can reach our goals in a way that doesn’t cause undue stress or strain.

When working with our bodies and within our humanity, we have more energy at our disposal to create the changes we want in our own lives and in the world.

4. Chill out. Ease into the changes you want to make. The tendency to take on too much is old paradigm stuff—the way we used to function. Being overworked and overwhelmed does not serve anymore. Embracing your humanity and working within its parameters will allow you to be as healthy, vibrant, and sourced as possible to do the work you’re here to do in the world.

For example, choose the most pressing two items from your to-do list today and focus on getting those things done. Then, see if you have time or energy left to check anything else off. Be realistic about where you are and strategic about timelines and energy levels.

5. Gratitude. You’ve heard it before. Gratitude changes everything. Eeeeeeeeeeveryyyyyyythiiiiiiing.

Specific to our resolutions, we can start by being grateful that we are a position to be able to focus our energy and attention on the changes that we want to make. Many people throughout the world don't have this luxury. Being thankful that we do helps us to be aware, in flow, open, and receptive to all that is in support of what we want to create.

At the same time, let's intend with every thought, word, and deed throughout the year, to remember how lucky we are—how privileged we are to be able to focus on our spirituality, impact, and service. With everything we do, let's pave the way to everyone in the world having the ability to do the same next year. Let's do the work that we need to do to set up the conditions where we can all make more choices and have sovereignty within our own lives.

Many times, we forget how powerful our focus and intention are. Intuitively, we understand it because we’ve been taught it a billion times. But we always think we're the exception to the rule. We look at others and see how powerful their energy and intention is, forgetting that we have the ability to do the exact same thing.

This year,

Let's remember our power.

Let's be grateful for our sovereignty.

Let's be thankful for the ability to make the changes that we are here to make.

Let's know within ourselves that the changes we desire are already made and lean into those feelings, continually experiencing the world as though this is the case. In this way, the energy will start to pave the way directly to the change, and we will be shown the steps to take because we are in the vibration of knowing it is already so done.

Don't let disappointment ruin your mojo again this year. Instead, let it remind you of the choices you no longer want to make and what you are releasing from your life. Then use these tools and launch yourself directly into the life of your dreams.

You’ve got this, and we've got you.

XO

Theresa
