My body, mind, and spirit are ready to begin the transition into spring. Are you feeling it, too? This is the time of year where we all naturally want to clean, clear, release, and detox.

 

Each season brings its own set of qualities, and one of the predominant qualities of winter is heaviness. Though it creates a cozy feeling of hibernation for a while, we become eager to leave it behind as soon as we see, feel, or smell the fist signs of spring.

 

Bye-bye heavy clothes, foods, extra blankets, and mucous (oh, so much mucous)!
Hello to a lighter body, environment, and life! 


 
Spring is a season of rebirth, and everything in nature supports clearing and cleansing—from the foods that are growing to the warmer and longer days. The increased light entices you to leave the cocoon and enjoy the outdoors.

There are a myriad of things that you can do right now to start moving out of the "heaviness" of winter and into the lighter energy of spring. Here are a few simple suggestions to get you started:

• Unfollow, Unlike, Unsubscribe. Reducing clutter in your feed and inbox will allow you to focus on what matters to you without having to use any of your energy wading through a heap of what doesn't.

 

• Incorporate Brighter Colors. Swap out darker winter clothes and décor for lighter, brighter options. Adding pops of color to your wardrobe and living spaces can help create a more cheerful atmosphere and reflect the vibrant energy of spring.

 

• Eat more of what's growing naturally in your area. Nature provides exactly what you need to balance yourself in any given season. At this time of year, foods that are growing are lighter and help your body to detox—releasing the excess mucous, cold, and heaviness that winter so lovingly provided!

 

• Practice Mindfulness and Gratitude. Taking time each day to reflect on the beauty of nature as it blooms and to express gratitude for the simple joys in your life can help shift your focus away from the density of stress and negativity, into a mindset of lightness and hope.

 

• Spring Cleaning. Use the changing of seasons as an opportunity to declutter and organize your living space. Clearing out unnecessary items and giving your living space a thorough cleaning can create a sense of freshness and renewal, both physically and mentally. For an added bonus, open up the windows while you do this!

 

The transition times between winter and spring and then summer and fall are the ideal times to focus on clearing and cleansing your entire life. Nature supports you wholeheartedly.

 

Those in the Southern Hemisphere, currently transitioning from summer to fall, can use the same concepts above, replacing "heaviness" with "heat." Clearing excess heat from the body, mind, and spirit at this time of year is so important to overall health. eg. wearing less oranges, reds, and yellows—the "hot" colors—will reduce heat.

 

There's always something you can do to improve your wellness, no matter what. IMHO, the simpler the better. I mean, you have so much else going on, why complicate things even more?
