What Do You Do When You Are Feeling Helpless?

 

Even people with the best spiritual practices go through periods where we feel completely helpless, and it seems that recent events have provided ample opportunity for these feelings. When face-to-face with it, helplessness can drain our energy and cause us to be closed off to possibilities because we become disconnected from our Guidance.

  

We are the protectors of our own energy, so let's be fierce about it. There are many things in the world that exist solely to try to pull us out of our flow because we are here to hold the vision and create a world based on peace and the unity. We wanted to grow through testing our soul and our resolve this time around, so we chose to incarnate in a time that included much opposition. Our duty is to constantly move back toward feeling balanced and centered.

 

It is a necessity for us to know what is going on in the world outside of us, so that we can hold the proper energy and direct the light. However, we do not need to get stuck in the stories and thought loops. We need to stop other people's thoughts and visions from crowding out and clouding our own. Learning to control our awareness is the key. This means that we can simply observe, learn, and disconnect—returning to our sovereignty. When we come back to center, we return to the vision of the world that we know is being birthed. We are then able to be inspired and receive guidance because we are calm and receptive.

When we are more balanced, we reconnect with our gut, which will tell us instantly what is True. This prevents us from the overthinking and overwhelm that comes with trying to force our heads and hearts to agree.

 

It’s important to realize that feeling helpless is not equal to feeling hopeless. Sometimes those two things get confused. When we don’t know what to do or how to help in a particular situation, it simply means that we're waiting for guidance and we need to get as balanced and grounded as possible to receive it. Hopelessness means we've given up all hope and leads to sadness, depression, upset, distancing ourselves from other people, and isolation.

Suffering is not part of our reason for being here.

  

That belief is old energy and is as far from the truth as we can get. We are here to anchor the frequencies of love and joy. We are here to help the world move forward in a much more harmonious way, and each of us contains a piece of that blueprint.

 

If you find yourself feeling helplessness, there are a few things that you can do to begin pulling yourself out of it pretty quickly and before it takes root.

 

1. Change the Things You Can. Find a place where are not helpless. Something that you can do for yourself or change about yourself, or your immediate surroundings. This has nothing to do with another person, and it can be simple. Asking, “What will bring me back into a higher vibration?” is a good start. Making these micro-choices brings you back into the driver’s seat of your life and reconnects you to your power in gentle ways.

 

2. Move It. One of the fastest ways to shift energy is to move your body, and it doesn't have to be anything elaborate. Moving your muscles opens your energy flow, internally and externally, interrupting your thought patterns. You come back to your body and ground back in. You can’t actually accomplish anything if you are not grounded. None of us can.

 

3. Release Overresponsibility. You don't have to save anyone else. Your responsibility begins and ends with this body and your surroundings. Sure, there may be others that you need to help take care of, but ultimately, how they live their lives is not up to you. They have their own path. This leaves you more free and open, including open to conversation, and differing perspectives. It helps you to be in true heart-to-heart connection.

 

4. Reconnect. Get outside of yourself, and get outside. Go for a walk. Look around. Reconnecting with the world outside of yourself and your home helps you to remember that the world continues, despite what's happening within your heart, thoughts, and life. This brings things back into perspective and leaves room for the question, “How important is it?” allowing space for clarity about what actions to take or not to take next.

You will begin to feel less alone on this beautiful blue marble because you have broadened your perspective through connection.

 

5. Ask for Guidance. You can simply say to the Divine, your higher self, and your Divine Team, “I’m feeling really helpless and need some guidance.” And you can be assured that it will come.

If it doesn't feel like it's coming, it means that you are shifting and being prepared to receive it. Divine timing is key, especially now, in this moment-to-moment paradigm. Pay attention to all of your senses, because guidance often the comes in the way that you least expect it. The little things that Universe does to reach out to us are often subtle.

Divine guidance often doesn’t make any sense on paper, and that's how you know that it’s not your own thoughts taking over. If you aren’t sure, wait. It will keep coming if it is True Guidance. Even though your inspiration might make you a little uncomfortable, the feeling underneath is a sense of peace— maybe even excitement.

 

Allowing ourselves to feel more connected to our Divine Team, to the world around us, and even to each other is an incredibly powerful way to pull ourselves out of the energy of helplessness. 

 

You are so loved that every need you will ever have is anticipated and accounted for. You simply have to allow.

 

So let's just breathe that in together, letting that love fill every one of our cells—especially the places that are resisting. Do this at least 3 times, but as many as you feel you need today.
