Angel Message: Getting Present with Divinity

This month, during the Season of Light, the Angels are extending us an invitation because they want us to understand how much easier it is to connect to Divinity right now. All of the festivals of Light are happening and every soul on the planet has access to lighter spiritual energy as we can ride the ripple that comes through these festivals.

The Angels commend us for our dedication and devotion throughout the year—via our practices, choices, and service. They want us to understand that connecting can be even simpler. Often when we meditate, we spend a lot of time and energy trying to empty the mind and get rid of things by actively pushing them out, then we beat ourselves up when thoughts come in.

We may even have a list of rituals that we need to complete before we sit for meditation. This can be useful, especially in the beginning. It moves the energy and the obstacles, so that we can sit and have as much peace as possible.

At the same time, the Angels really want us to understand this one universal Truth: When we empty ourselves by letting go of worries, concerns, thoughts, feelings, etc., and become like empty bowls, the Divine comes to fill us up.

This is almost a shortcut for those of us who have a regular practice!

There is a popular saying that I heard a lot as a child, “The idle mind is the devil's playground.” This idea provokes fear and prevents many from being willing to even attempt to meditate or sit in contemplation. The thought that something unwanted can come in and take over our thoughts, take us down a rabbit hole, or lead us someplace we don't want to go can be enough to paralyze us. There’s also the fear that we might discover something inside that we don't want to see or re-live—and these are just some of the resistances that come up!

The Angels want us to be clear that the exact opposite is actually true. Wherever there is emptiness—the Divine seeks to fill the space. The thing is that when we attempt to empty our minds, old negative thought loops, feelings, and ways of speaking to ourselves (ways that we would never ever speak to somebody else) can come in. It can be enough to paralyze us. These are just some of the resistances that come up.

When we don't catch them, we can spin in those old cycles of lower vibration. It’s easy because bringing our vibrations higher requires more energy. When we sit in that lower vibration energy, we attract more energies like it. This is the law of attraction—what we put out is what we magnetize. That's where this idea of the idle mind being the devil's playground came from, but this is not emptiness!

When we seek to free ourselves from the shackles of the mind so that we can move into our being-ness, we open ourselves like that empty bowl, and the Divine can meet us where we are. This doesn't mean that the mind won't still have thoughts, we just have to be really conscious of them and presence ourselves to them instead of trying to push them away.

Let them show themselves. When we can sit with them and consciously allow them to be, they evaporate. Just notice without judgment or criticism. Breathe into them and let them float by. If they come back again, do the same thing. Be with them, because your presence allows them to feel that they've expressed that they can move on. You've paid attention, given them time and space, and they’ve delivered the message.

Over time, when we pay attention and allow the mind to do what it does, it releases the need to bring so many thoughts and so much chaos. It grows to understand that it can have a time and a place where it is safe to let go and to open itself. It can allow something bigger and beyond its comprehension to come in and take the lead.

If you find that you're having physical, mental, emotional, or spiritual resistance to this, start with a mantra, a prayer, or reading a passage that speaks something to you. This means you will begin with an object of meditation. Repeat something over and over or have a visual—something you gaze upon that holds your attention.

When your mind starts to let go of that object and you feel the need to close your eyes or release the mantra and go within, allow that to happen. Don't try to force yourself back. Release and be present with the Divinity that is coming in at that moment.

This empty state is perhaps the most powerful form of meditation. We are in total surrender as we allow the Divine to come show us, guide us, and fill us from the inside.

This can be especially useful now, when the world is in such a state of confusion and shift and so many are in need of more peace. In all of the illusion and upheaval, and our Angels are extending the invitation for us to move deeper into this state of openness and surrender to the Light. In this way, we can establish connection, and the Divine can fill us up.

In this way, we will have less of a chance of getting caught up in the movement, frenetic energy, and the craziness that comes with the Holiday Season and beyond. When you're tempted to go that way, take a step back and move toward the stillness, the emptiness, and the openness.

Let the Light of the season and the Divine fill you and inspire your next steps. The Light that has filled you will guide you. You’ll be amazed at how much that seemed important falls away as you begin to see the world through the lens of Truth more of the time. It becomes easier to let go of illusion or other people's expectations and judgments and be present with what is truly important to you.

After this, begin to notice if you seek to fill moments of emptiness or silence with something. Do you try to find a video to watch, a book to read, or a scripture to be with? None of those things are intrinsically wrong. In fact, you’re here so you're probably bettering yourself constantly by doing things like this. At the same time, our Angels are asking us to notice our motivation—if and why are we seeking to fill the emptiness.

Is something missing from our experience, and if so, what is it? Can we surrender that space and extend an invitation to the Divine?

What the world needs more than anything else right now is people who are willing to let go, be the Light, and are truly willing to face the emptiness and be with it. Let us see it as an opportunity to allow grace to come into our lives, our vessels, and our world.

Are YOU willing to be that vessel of light and grace this Holiday Season and beyond?
