Healing for the World's Healers

Joy as Rebellion: Reclaiming Play in a World That Wants You Tired

If you’ve been feeling heavy… drained… like joy is some distant, foggy memory —
breathe easy.

You’re in the right place.

Today we’re talking about joy.

Not the performative “I’m fine, everything’s fine, just stay positive!” kind of joy.

I mean real, soul-fueling, belly-laughing, deep-breathing JOY —

the kind that recharges your heart and reminds you why you’re here.

Because here’s the thing:

This world — this culture — often rewards burnout, busyness, and being “serious enough” about how hard everything is.

Plus, right now, there are forces trying to overwhelm you into disconnection and giving up.

But I want to invite you into a different rhythm.

One that says:

Your joy isn’t a distraction from the Work. It is the Work.

Why Joy Can Feel Out of Reach
You're someone who feels deeply, so you’re probably carrying a lot.

Grief. Rage. Compassion fatigue.

That gnawing feeling that no matter how much you do, it’s never enough.

And when the world feels like it’s unraveling, joy can feel… almost inappropriate.

Like, "Who am I to laugh when there's so much suffering?"

But listen closely:
Joy is not an escape.

It’s a return.

A return to your essence.

To the part of you that knows how to bring healing light into dark places.

To the sparks of aliveness you were born to share.

Joy as a Radical Choice
Here’s something most people won’t tell you:

Joy is a radical act of defiance.

In systems that profit from your exhaustion, despair, and disconnection —

resting is revolutionary.

Dancing in your kitchen is a holy act.

Picking up your emergency hula hoop is an energetic realignment.

Every time you let yourself feel good — even for a second —

you send a ripple through the world.

Your nervous system needs joy.

Not just to survive, but to stay open. To stay loving. To stay you.

This isn’t indulgent.

It’s intelligent.

It’s sacred.

A Tiny Act of Rebellious Joy
Let’s try something.

Take a breath in…

and let it out with a big, ridiculous sigh.

(Yep. That’s it. Already loosening the grip.)

Now — think back.

What did you love doing as a kid?

Jumping on the bed? Drawing spirals in chalk? Making up weird little songs?

What would it look like to do a tiny version of that today?

Not a big “add-to-your-to-do-list” thing.

Just a spark. A moment. A sprinkle of rebellion.

That’s your invitation: One tiny, sacredly silly act of joy today.
You’re allowed.

The Power of Playfulness
Let’s be real:
Reclaiming joy doesn’t mean we’re ignoring pain or pretending the world’s not in crisis.

It means we’re grounding in lightness so we can carry the heaviness with more grace.

Play is not a luxury. It’s a spiritual necessity.

It’s medicine.

When we play, we open.
We soften.

We stop worshipping productivity and allow magic to emerge.

The last time I played — really played — I felt like my cells exhaled.

It was like all the “shoulds” fell away and my soul got to take up space.

A Blessing for Your Joyful Rebellion
Beloved,

Joy is not optional.

It’s your lifeline.

It’s how you stay connected to your soul, your Source, your why.

Don’t wait for the world to get lighter.

Be the light.

Dance anyway.

Laugh anyway.

Love anyway.

You are here to help the world heal.

And yes, you are allowed to be: Joyful and concerned.

Playful and powerful.

Tender and wildly effective.

I’m so glad you exist.

Now go —
Do something rebellious and beautifully unnecessary today.

Just because you can.
